What to expect in 7th grade

Independence builds here. So does the work.

Seventh grade ramps up expectations across the board. Writing assignments get longer and more complex. Math moves into pre-algebra territory. Science involves more inquiry and critical thinking. Socially and emotionally, seventh grade is famously difficult: kids this age are navigating puberty, identity, and intense social dynamics. For many students, the focused online learning environment is a welcome relief from the chaos of a traditional middle school building. At Score Academy, teachers know each student well enough to notice when something is off, and to act on it before it becomes a pattern.

Three things. First, Synchronous instruction is 100% live and taught by certified human teachers. No AI tutors, no pre-recorded lectures as primary instruction. Second, every student gets an individualized education plan built by their teachers, not generated by software. Third, families can choose between Synchronous (small-group live), Flex (group live with recordings and teacher chat), and Asynchronous (fully self-paced), all under the same Cognia accreditation.
