From core academics to creative electives, here’s a snapshot of what Grade 8 students study at Score Academy Online. Synchronous students take every subject live. Asynchronous students access the same accredited curriculum at their own pace.

Synchronous 8th graders follow a personalized daily timetable with academic rigor that mirrors a high school schedule. More independence, more depth, more accountability.

Yes. Score Academy Online’s middle school program is built specifically for students in grades 6 through 8. Eighth graders on the Synchronous package learn in live classes with certified teachers who focus on high school readiness: closing academic gaps, accelerating strengths, and building the study habits that matter most in 9th grade and beyond.
Yes. Online schooling is legal in all 50 states. Many families choose online school for 8th grade to give their child a stronger academic foundation before the high school transcript begins. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia, which means transcripts are recognized by other schools and universities nationwide.
Grade 8 students study English Language Arts, Mathematics (Algebra I or Pre-Algebra based on placement), Science (Physical Science), Social Studies (US History and Civics), Spanish, Health and Physical Education, Digital Art and Design, Music, Coding and Technology, Career Research and Decision Making, and Critical Thinking. On the Synchronous and Flex packages, every subject is taught live by a certified teacher. On the Asynchronous package, students work through the same curriculum independently.
Pricing is per course for middle school students. Asynchronous is $415 per course. Flex (live group classes with recordings and teacher chat) is $1,275 per course. Synchronous (live small-group classes of no more than 4 students with personalized feedback) is $2,125 per course. Additional fees such as registration and technology fees may apply. Synchronous 8th grade students follow a structured daily schedule from approximately 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with breaks and lunch built in. That’s roughly 5 to 6 hours of live instruction and independent study, similar to a traditional school day but with less wasted time.
That is the explicit goal of the 8th grade program. Teachers use this year to assess readiness, close content gaps, and build the executive function skills (time management, organization, self-advocacy) that determine success in high school. Students who continue into Score Academy Online’s high school program transition seamlessly. Students who move to another school carry a Cognia-accredited transcript that is recognized by any accredited high school.
Three things. First, Synchronous instruction is 100% live and taught by certified human teachers. No AI tutors, no pre-recorded lectures as primary instruction. Second, every student gets an individualized education plan built by their teachers, not generated by software. Third, families can choose between Synchronous (small-group live), Flex (group live with recordings and teacher chat), and Asynchronous (fully self-paced), all under the same Cognia accreditation.
Yes. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia (which includes SACS CASI, NCA, and NWAC recognition) and is both NCAA Approved and NCAA Eligible. Transcripts carry the same weight as those from any traditional accredited private school.
