The year reading clicks. Certified teachers who know every student by name, live instruction built for how six-year-olds learn, and the foundation that makes everything after this possible.
First grade is when school gets real. Students move from learning letters to reading sentences, from counting to solving problems, from following directions to managing their own work. It’s the year that separates kids who love learning from kids who start to disengage. The difference almost always comes down to instruction quality and attention. At Score Academy, your child gets focused teaching time from a certified teacher who builds the year around them. The learning environment is personal, intentional, and structured for how this age group develops.

Weekly live lessons in a group of up to 20 students. Every session recorded for replay. Direct teacher access through the online chat platform.
Weekly live sessions in a small group of no more than 4 students. Personalized attention from a certified teacher with direct real-time interaction.
Yes. Score Academy Online is designed for young learners. First graders on the Synchronous package learn in live classes with certified teachers who provide the structure and attention this age needs. The day is built around short, focused blocks with breaks, not marathon screen sessions.
Yes. Online schooling is legal in all 50 states. Many families choose online school for 1st grade to give their child a more focused, less chaotic learning environment during a critical year. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia, so transcripts are recognized by schools and districts nationwide.
First grade students study Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education. They also choose one elective from Spanish, Art, or Music. On the Synchronous and Flex packages, every subject is taught live by a certified teacher. On the Asynchronous package, students work through the same curriculum independently.
Pricing is per course for elementary students. Asynchronous is $415 per course. Flex (live group classes with recordings and teacher chat) is $1,275 per course. Synchronous (live small-group classes of no more than 4 students with personalized feedback) is $2,125 per course. Additional fees such as registration and technology fees may apply. Contact admissions for a full breakdown.
Synchronous 1st grade students follow a structured daily schedule from approximately 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with breaks and lunch built in. That’s roughly 4 to 5 hours of live instruction and guided activities, similar to a traditional school day but with less wasted time.
Three things. First, Synchronous instruction is 100% live and taught by certified human teachers. No AI tutors, no pre-recorded lectures as primary instruction. Second, every student gets an individualized education plan built by their teachers, not generated by software. Third, families can choose between Synchronous (small-group live), Flex (group live with recordings and teacher chat), and Asynchronous (fully self-paced), all under the same Cognia accreditation.
Yes. In every live class on the Synchronous and Flex packages, your child interacts with classmates and their teacher. Group activities, discussions, and collaborative projects build genuine connections. Many families find that consistent, personal interactions in a focused setting work better for this age than navigating a crowded traditional classroom.
Yes. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia (which includes SACS CASI, NCA, and NWAC recognition) and is both NCAA Approved and NCAA Eligible. Transcripts carry the same weight as those from any traditional accredited private school.
“First grade online sounded crazy to us. Now our son reads chapter books and actually wants to go to school every morning.”
