The transition year, done right. Certified teachers who know every student by name, live instruction designed for new middle schoolers, and the structure that makes this shift feel manageable instead of overwhelming.
Sixth grade is a turning point. Students move from the nurturing elementary environment toward greater independence: multiple teachers, higher academic expectations, and the start of real self-management. Research shows this transition often brings declining motivation, increased anxiety, and drops in performance. At Score Academy, your child is known by every teacher, supported through the transition, and building the habits that carry through the rest of their education. The learning environment is structured to make this shift feel steady, not chaotic.

Three packages. Same Cognia accreditation. Pricing is per course for elementary and middle school students.
Your child works through the curriculum at their own pace. A teacher marks and grades all submitted work. No scheduled class times.
Weekly live lessons in a group of up to 20 students. Every session recorded for replay. Direct teacher access through the online chat platform.
Weekly live sessions in a small group of no more than 4 students. Personalized attention from a certified teacher with direct real-time interaction.
Yes. Score Academy Online is designed specifically for middle schoolers. Sixth graders on the Synchronous package learn in live classes with certified teachers who provide the structure and support new middle schoolers need during the transition from elementary school.
Yes. Online schooling is legal in all 50 states. Many families begin online school during middle school to provide a more tailored, less overwhelming learning experience. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia, which means transcripts are recognized by other schools and universities nationwide.
Grade 6 students study English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Health and Physical Education, Digital Art and Design, Music, Coding Fundamentals, Career Research and Decision Making, and Critical Thinking. On the Synchronous and Flex packages, every subject is taught live by a certified teacher. On the Asynchronous package, students work through the same curriculum independently.
Pricing is per course for middle school students. Asynchronous is $415 per course. Flex (live group classes with recordings and teacher chat) is $1,275 per course. Synchronous (live small-group classes of no more than 4 students with personalized feedback) is $2,125 per course. Additional fees such as registration and technology fees may apply. Contact admissions for a full breakdown.
Synchronous 6th grade students follow a structured daily schedule from approximately 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with breaks and lunch built in. That’s roughly 5 to 6 hours of live instruction and independent study, similar to a traditional school day but with less wasted time.
Three things. First, Synchronous instruction is 100% live and taught by certified human teachers. No AI tutors, no pre-recorded lectures as primary instruction. Second, every student gets an individualized education plan built by their teachers, not generated by software. Third, families can choose between Synchronous (small-group live), Flex (group live with recordings and teacher chat), and Asynchronous (fully self-paced), all under the same Cognia accreditation.
Yes. In every live class on the Synchronous and Flex packages, your child interacts with classmates and their teacher. Group projects, discussions, and collaborative work build genuine connections. Many families find that consistent, personal interactions in a focused setting work better for this age than navigating a crowded traditional middle school.
Yes. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia (which includes SACS CASI, NCA, and NWAC recognition) and is both NCAA Approved and NCAA Eligible. Transcripts carry the same weight as those from any traditional accredited private school.
