Can a 6th grader do online school?
Yes. Score Academy Online is designed specifically for middle schoolers. Sixth graders on the Synchronous package learn in live classes with certified teachers who provide the structure and support new middle schoolers need during the transition from elementary school.
Is 6th grade online school legal in the US?
Yes. Online schooling is legal in all 50 states. Many families begin online school during middle school to provide a more tailored, less overwhelming learning experience. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia, which means transcripts are recognized by other schools and universities nationwide.
What subjects does a 6th grader take at Score Academy?
Grade 6 students study English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Health and Physical Education, Digital Art and Design, Music, Coding Fundamentals, Career Research and Decision Making, and Critical Thinking. On the Synchronous and Flex packages, every subject is taught live by a certified teacher. On the Asynchronous package, students work through the same curriculum independently.

Pricing is per course for middle school students. Asynchronous is $535 per course. Flex (live group classes with recordings and teacher chat) is $1,525 per course. Synchronous (live small-group classes of no more than 6 students with personalized feedback) is $2,500 per course. Additional fees such as registration and technology fees may apply. How many hours per day does a 6th grader spend in online school?
It depends on the package and how many courses your child is enrolled in, since tuition is charged per course. On the Synchronous and Flex packages, live lesson times are scheduled around your child’s education plan and time zone, with independent work in between. On the Asynchronous package there are no set class times at all. Admissions can map out what a week would look like for the courses you are considering.
How is Score Academy different from other online schools?
