Section 5

Communication Policies

5.1 Canvas Inbox

The Canvas Inbox is the primary communication channel between students and teachers. Students are expected to check their Canvas Inbox regularly and acknowledge receipt of, or respond to, all messages sent by teachers within 48 hours. Failure to respond to teacher communications may result in delays to academic progress and may be noted as a concern in the student’s academic record.

5.2 Email Communication

For administrative, billing, or general inquiries, students and parents may contact Score Academy Online at support@score-academy.com. Score Academy Online aims to respond to all email inquiries within two business days. Urgent matters should be communicated via phone at (561) 333-8882.

5.3 Teacher Availability

Teachers are available during their designated office hours for additional support. Students should refer to their course page for specific teacher availability and scheduling information. While teachers strive to respond to messages promptly, please allow up to 48 hours for a response during peak periods.

5.4 Communication with Parents and Guardians

Score Academy Online recognizes the vital role that parents, tutors, and guardians play in a student’s academic success. The academy will communicate with parents and guardians regarding academic progress, concerns, upcoming deadlines, and any disciplinary matters. Parents and guardians are encouraged to reach out to the support team at any time with questions or concerns.

Section 6

Live Lessons (Synchronous Learners Only)

Live Lessons are available exclusively to students enrolled in the synchronous learning program. Students on asynchronous learning plans do not have access to Live Lessons and should refer to their course materials and recorded content for instruction.

6.1 Purpose and Expectations

The focus of Score Academy Online’s Live Lessons is learning. These sessions provide valuable real-time interaction with teachers and are a key component of the synchronous curriculum. Synchronous learners are expected to attend live lessons prepared and ready to participate, and to be considerate and respectful to their peers and teacher in order to maximize the learning benefits.

6.2 Recording and Access

All Live Lessons are recorded by the teacher in real time and made available to synchronous learners in the Live Lesson Library for later review. By participating in a Live Lesson, students consent to being recorded. Recordings are made available solely for educational purposes and may not be downloaded, shared, or distributed by students outside of the Score Academy Online platform.

6.3 Conduct During Live Lessons

During Live Lessons, students should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Listen carefully to the content being presented. After the lesson, the teacher will respond to as many questions as time allows.
  • Use the Chat function and Question-and-Answer function exclusively for questions and comments relating to the content of the lesson.
  • Understand that while the lesson is being recorded, the teacher may not be able to respond to the chat or Q&A channel in real time.
  • Refrain from engaging in off-topic conversations, spamming the chat, or disrupting the lesson in any way.
  • Mute your microphone when not speaking (if applicable) to minimize background noise.
  • Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor throughout the session.

6.4 Missed Live Lessons

Synchronous learners who are unable to attend a scheduled Live Lesson should watch the recorded version in the Live Lesson Library as soon as possible. If a student consistently misses Live Lessons, the teacher or academic team may reach out to discuss strategies for improved engagement.

Section 7

Assignments and Assessments

7.1 General Assignment Guidelines

Assignments are a critical component of the Score Academy Online curriculum and provide important opportunities for learning, review, and assessment of academic progress. Students are expected to complete all assignments to the best of their ability, by the established deadlines, and in accordance with the specific instructions provided.

7.2 Plagiarism

Plagiarism will not be accepted at Score Academy Online. At Score Academy Online, plagiarism refers to the direct copying of model answers, the copying of someone else’s work, the submission of work completed by a third party, or the paraphrasing of another’s work without proper attribution.

If plagiarism is encountered in an assignment, the following actions will be taken:

  1. The marking of the assignment will be halted immediately.
  2. The assignment will be returned with a grade of zero.
  3. The student will receive a formal written warning.
  4. The incident will be recorded in the student’s academic file.

Repeated instances of plagiarism may result in escalating consequences, up to and including the permanent removal of the student from the Score Academy Online platform. Remember that plagiarism undermines your own learning and will only lead to short-term gratification. By not receiving an honest assessment of your work, you will not be able to track and assess your current level of knowledge in order to best prepare yourself for tests, exams, and your American High School Diploma requirements.

7.3 Artificial Intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in assignments, tests, and all other graded work at Score Academy Online is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, any software, application, or program that generates answers, solutions, essays, code, or similar work on behalf of students, such as chatbots, large language models, automated writing assistants, and AI-powered paraphrasing or summarization tools.

Score Academy Online has implemented advanced detection measures to identify the use of AI-generated content. If AI use is detected:

  • Marking for the affected assignment or test will be halted immediately.
  • The submission will be returned with a score of zero.
  • The student will receive a formal written warning.
  • The incident will be recorded in the student’s academic file.

Repeated violations may lead to the student’s removal from the Score Academy Online platform. The prohibition against AI use is in place to ensure honest evaluation of a student’s work and academic progress. Score Academy Online is committed to the best interests of its students and will only accept the submission of original work.

7.4 Test Conditions

Unless specifically stated otherwise, all assignments should be completed under test conditions. This means that the student should not have access to textbooks, course notes, personal study notes, the internet, or any other reference materials during completion. Each assignment provides an opportunity to assess the student’s true level of understanding and retention of knowledge and key concepts.

If a specific assignment is designated as “open book” or carries alternative instructions, these will be clearly communicated by the teacher. Students should carefully read all assignment instructions before beginning.

7.5 Format and Submission Requirements

Depending on the course and assignment type, some submissions may be completed online through the Score Academy Online platform, while others may require written work. The specific format for each assignment will be clearly indicated in the assignment instructions. Students should review these instructions carefully before beginning their work.

Submission requirements:

  • All assessment documents must be completed on the document or template provided, unless otherwise instructed.
  • For written assignments, completed work must be scanned into a single .pdf file for grading. Scanned documents must be clear, legible, and properly oriented.
  • For online submissions, students must follow the submission process outlined on the platform for the specific assignment.
  • All pages or sections must be included in the correct order.
  • Submissions that are incomplete, illegible, or improperly formatted may be returned for resubmission.

Temporary accommodations for submission format may be requested in extenuating circumstances by contacting support@score-academy.com with appropriate supporting documentation.

7.6 Late Submissions

Students are expected to submit assignments by the established deadlines. If a student anticipates difficulty meeting a deadline, they must notify their teacher in advance to discuss a possible extension. Late submissions without prior arrangement may be subject to grade penalties or may not be accepted.

7.7 Resubmissions and Corrections

Score Academy Online encourages students to learn from their mistakes. Students may be permitted to resubmit corrected work at the discretion of their teacher. Resubmission policies may vary by course and will be communicated by the teacher at the start of each course or term.

  • Course requirements for the upcoming academic year.
  • A personalized academic plan tailored to support the student in reaching graduation.

Students and parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that the student completes the required credits in accordance with the personalized plan provided. Failure to maintain adequate progress may result in a meeting with the academic team to discuss remediation strategies.

8.3 Graduation Requirements

To earn an American High School Diploma through Score Academy Online, students must successfully complete all required credits as outlined in their personalized academic plan, meet minimum GPA requirements, and fulfill any additional requirements communicated by the academic team. Specific graduation requirements will be discussed with each student and their family at the time of enrollment and revisited annually.

Section 9

Score Academy Online employs industry-standard security measures to protect student data and platform integrity. If a student suspects unauthorized access to their account, they should notify support@score-academy.com immediately.

Score Academy Online is not responsible for technical issues arising from a student’s personal equipment or internet service. Students experiencing persistent technical difficulties should contact support@score-academy.com for guidance.

  • Circumventing or attempting to circumvent any security measures or access controls.
Section 11

Parent, Tutor, and Guardian Involvement

Maximum involvement by both the student and their parent, tutor, or guardian is required for best results. Research consistently demonstrates that students achieve better academic outcomes when their families are actively engaged in their education.

Parents, tutors, and guardians are encouraged to:

  • Monitor the student’s use of the Score Academy Online platform on a regular basis via the Student Tracker.
  • Review the student’s grades, feedback, and progress reports regularly.

  • Attend any scheduled parent-teacher conferences or academic progress meetings.
Section 12

Financial Policies

12.1 Tuition and Fees

Details regarding tuition, fees, and payment schedules are provided at the time of enrollment and are outlined in the student’s enrollment agreement. All fees must be paid in accordance with the agreed payment schedule. Failure to make timely payments may result in suspension of access to the platform and course materials until the outstanding balance is resolved.

12.2 Early Withdrawal, Dismissal, and Refund Policy

Parent(s) and guardians understand and agree that enrollment at Score Academy Online constitutes a full academic-year commitment. The refund and financial obligation policies differ depending on whether the student is enrolled in the synchronous or asynchronous learning program.

12.2.1 Synchronous Learners

In the event of early withdrawal or dismissal during the school year, tuition is payable for the remainder of the school year and will not be prorated. At Score Academy Online’s election, the outstanding balance may become immediately due and payable. An official transcript, final report card, and other school records will be issued only when all financial obligations are current and paid.

Notwithstanding the above, if the student is unable to finish the curriculum (either due to pace of progress or excessive absences or lateness), then parent(s) shall have the option to add 1-on-1 hours for the classes in question. The additional time will be charged at the rate of $70 per hour.

12.2.2 Asynchronous Learners

In the event of early withdrawal or dismissal during the school year, the parent’s financial obligation shall be limited to the greater of (a) the total tuition amount already paid, or (b) the prorated portion of annual tuition corresponding to the percentage of the student’s course progression completed as of the date of withdrawal or dismissal, as determined by Score Academy Online in its reasonable discretion.

12.2.3 Release of Records

For both synchronous and asynchronous learners, an official transcript, final report card, and all other school records will be released only when all financial obligations are current and paid in full. Requests related to early withdrawal or refunds should be directed to support@score-academy.com.

Section 13

Consequences and Disciplinary Procedures

Please note that in cases where any of the above rules are broken, or in cases of non-adherence to these procedures, Score Academy Online reserves the right to take necessary action deemed fit as a reasonable consequence of the transgression.

The disciplinary process may include, but is not limited to:

  1. Verbal or written warning to the student and/or parent/guardian.
  2. Temporary restriction of access to specific platform features.
  3. Temporary suspension from the Score Academy Online platform.
  4. Mandatory meeting with the academic team and parent/guardian.
  5. Permanent expulsion from Score Academy Online.

The severity of the consequence will be determined based on the nature and frequency of the infraction. Score Academy Online aims to apply disciplinary measures fairly and consistently, with the primary goal of maintaining a safe and productive learning environment for all students.

Section 14

Score Academy Online reserves the right to amend, update, or modify these rules and procedures at any time. Any changes will be communicated to students and parents/guardians via email and/or a notification on the Score Academy Online platform.
