Fifth graders on the Synchronous package learn in live classes with certified teachers who provide the focused instruction and middle school preparation this final elementary year requires. Yes. Online schooling is legal in all 50 states. Many families choose online school for fifth grade to ensure their child gets the individual attention and academic preparation needed before middle school. Score Academy Online is accredited by Cognia, so transcripts are recognized by schools and districts nationwide.
Fifth grade students study Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education. They also choose one elective from Spanish, Art, or Music. On the Synchronous and Flex packages, every subject is taught live by a certified teacher. On the Asynchronous package, students work through the same curriculum independently.
Pricing is per course for elementary students. Asynchronous is $415 per course. Flex (live group classes with recordings and teacher chat) is $1,275 per course. Synchronous (live small-group classes of no more than 4 students with personalized feedback) is $2,125 per course. Additional fees such as registration and technology fees may apply. Synchronous 5th grade students follow a structured daily schedule from approximately 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with breaks and lunch built in. That’s roughly 5 to 6 hours of live instruction and independent study, similar to a traditional school day but with less wasted time.
Three things. First, Synchronous instruction is 100% live and taught by certified human teachers. No AI tutors, no pre-recorded lectures as primary instruction. Second, every student gets an individualized education plan built by their teachers, not generated by software. Third, families can choose between Synchronous (small-group live), Flex (group live with recordings and teacher chat), and Asynchronous (fully self-paced), all under the same Cognia accreditation.
Yes. In every live class on the Synchronous and Flex packages, your child interacts with classmates and their teacher. Group projects, discussions, presentations, and collaborative work build genuine connections. Many families find that consistent, personal interactions in a focused setting work better for this age than navigating a crowded traditional classroom.
